The Energy Exchange is pleased to announce the first Global Tight Oil Summit from 31 January - 1 February 2012 in Houston, Texas.

Low natural gas prices and oversupply have prompted independent operators with shale play ventures to look for more economical energy E&P activities. Tight oil is the answer to current market challenges surrounding natural gas, offering the potential to diversify portfolios and generate additional revenue from existing acreage investments. Developing tight oil has been made economically viable through the reduced cost of technology and the establishment of a solid unconventional E&P market in terms of regulation and operational practices.

This exciting new market is attracting significant interest, however, there are various challenges facing those pioneering the way:

  • How do you source trained engineers and geologists to run your project on the ground?
  • How much oil can be produced from existing plays?
  • Where are the next big oil rich shales going to emerge - the Bakken, Eagle Ford, Niobrara, Utica, Monteney, Mississippi Lime…where next?
  • What opportunities are there for acreage acquisition?
  • What does the roadmap to large scale production look like, and what are the challenges and implications?
  • How can I find out about the latest completion strategies and identify best practices?

The Global Tight Oil Summit will unite the industry and create a dialogue between operators and solution providers at this crucial time of market development.
