FAQS Speakers
Our FAQ's are split into two sections - The Speaker Questions and answers can be seen below. You can read our Delegate Question and Answers here.
1. Can my colleague attend with me?
As a speaker of the event, we are pleased to offer your colleagues a 10% discount off the conference fee.
2. How do I submit a paper and when is the deadline?
To submit a paper contact the Conference Manager directly to discuss speaker opportunities available and deadlines for submitting a paper abstract.
3. When and what format should I send my presentation in?
Presentations should be sent 4 weeks prior to the conference. We require your presentations to be sent in a PowerPoint or PDF format. Your conference manager will provide you with specific deadlines.
4. How will my presentation and biography be used?
For each conference we create a documentation book that contains each speakers biography and presentation. We therefore require each speaker to submit their presentation prior to the conference so that we may include it in the conference documentation notebook.
The most frequent complaint at a conference is missing presentations from the workbook. If you require a deadline extension, please let us know immediately. If you are unable to submit your presentation by our deadline, please be advised that you will need to supply your own copies of your presentation at the conference.
5. Do you have a laptop I can use?
We will provide a laptop for your use, please contact the Conference Manager at the event to upload your presentation onto our laptop. Alternatively you may bring your own laptop with you.
6. How long is my presentation due to last?
Presentations at most of our conferences are scheduled to run for 20 minutes with additional time allocated for questions from the floor. However this may vary from conference to conference and would be confirmed by your conference manager.
7. What language is the conference held in?
All our conferences are held in the English language with simultaneous translation provided at our Russian & CIS related conferences. Please check with your conference manager whether this applies to your event.
8. Who do I contact if I am running late for my presentation?
The best way to contact the conference staff is by telephoning the venue directly and asking for the Energy Exchange Ltd/World Refining Association conference desk, whereupon you will be able to speak to a member of staff.
9. What does my role as a session chairman include?
As a session chairman, you will be required to:
- introduce and open the session
- Introduce each speaker in the session (biographies are provided)
- Field and direct the question and answer element of each session
- Stimulate and encourage interaction/participation from the audience during the Q&A element of the session
